Hospitalized against your will?
You're in hospital, you're told it's for your own good... But don't you want to be there? This is for you!
There is a Law that allows what is happening to you:
Law P-38.001 applies when the person's mental state presents a serious and imminent danger to himself or to others.
This is an exceptional measure that suspends the fundamental right to freedom recognized in the Quebec and Canadian Charters and the Quebec Civil Code.
If you find yourself in this situation, you can contact us and a counsellor will come and meet you, help you understand what is happening to you and accompany you through the process. You can also call someone close to you or a lawyer to assist you.
However, a guide has been created specifically for you by the Association des groupes d'intervention en défense de droits en santé mentale du Québec.
