WE NEED YOU!
WE WANT TO HEAR YOU!
ReprésentACTION Gaspésie is a citizen participation initiative run by Droits et Recours Santé Mentale Gaspésie-Les-Îles that aims to promote mental health by giving a voice to those directly affected by mental health services.
Implemented in Baie-des-Chaleurs in early 2021, the approach, which grew out of the community plans of the Bonaventure and Avignon RCMs, is supported by the Réseau de développement social de la Gaspésie as well as ReprésentACTION Québec.
Since April 2023, ReprésentACTION Gaspésie has also been partially funded by the Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux, which wishes to support the expression of citizen and collective voice as well as the transmission of experiential knowledge by people who use services in the planning and organization of services.
The voice of ReprésentACTION Gaspésie is supported and amplified by a national organization, which brings to the forefront, in a dozen regions of Quebec, people who are primarily concerned - people who are experiencing or have experienced mental health issues in the past.
The collective voice is a citizen's voice, but it is articulated in the "we" rather than the "I". This approach is one of power appropriation, since the people involved are led to sit on decision-making tables and committees, or on working committees related to mental health.
Since the first regional meeting, held in New Richmond in June 2023, all MRCs on the Gaspé territory have been represented by one or more delegates, responsible for carrying the collective word in their communities and on consultative and decision-making bodies. They are...
