Who are we?

Droits et Recours Santé Mentale Gaspésie-Les-Îles promotes, protects and defends the rights of people living with or having experienced a mental health problem, to help anyone who wants to regain full control over their lives.

Our mission

Founded in 1994, Droits et Recours Santé Mentale Gaspésie-Les-Îles is an independent community organization funded by the Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux du Québec, whose mission is to promote, protect and defend the rights of people living with or having experienced a mental health problem throughout the Gaspé Peninsula and the Magdalen Islands.

Also, for 30 years, we have worked tirelessly to inform and support people as best we can in their efforts to have their rights respected. Over the years, we have developed solid expertise and established fruitful partnerships with community players to ensure continuous improvement in the service offering and respect for mental health rights.

Our philosophy

Based on the principles of humanity, respect for choice and the empowerment of each individual, our interventions always consider the whole person, observing his or her strengths and limitations in order to encourage the individual to respect his or her rights and regain full control over his or her life.

Our main mandates and objectives

Defend individual rights by listening, informing, assisting and supporting people in their efforts to have their rights respected.

Inform and educate, by offering workshops designed to promote our services, but also to provide information on human rights and best practices in mental health care and services.

Contribute to the improvement of mental health practices and services, by taking part in bodies working for social transformation and by contributing to the deployment of the collective voice to encourage the involvement of those primarily concerned.

Marie-Pier is a determined, experienced and rigorous advocate who will listen to you and help you identify the avenues to take to ensure your rights are respected.

Originally from Repentigny and a resident of Îles-de-la-Madeleine for the past seven years, Katherine is passionate about people and has a wealth of experience in the mental health field. mental health field. She stands out for her determination, empathy and thoroughness. Now actively involved in promoting and defending the rights of people living with or having experienced a mental health problem, listening and respect are at the heart of her actions to support you in your efforts to have your rights respected.

Vicky Bilodeau

Assistant Manager

A true pillar of the crew, Vicky arrived in Gaspésie in 2019, following an atypical career path that included customer service and team management. Appreciated for her cheerful disposition, meticulous attention to detail and organizational skills, her colleagues are delighted to always be able to count on her, both to orchestrate certain actions and to have a bit of a laugh. Altruistic to the end of her fingernails and always with her heart in her hand, Vicky wants to help her fellow human beings, whether they have two or four legs!

Karyne Boudreau

General Manager in charge of Representation Gaspésie

Karyne is a native of Baie-des-Chaleurs. After 25 years in the media world as a journalist in Gaspésie and elsewhere in Quebec, she enthusiastically embraced community action in 2018. First hired by Droits et Recours as administrative assistant in charge of communications, she took the helm of the organization, on an interim basis in 2020, then on a permanent basis since 2022. Human, dedicated, resilient and passionate, she is committed to raising the organization's profile and advancing the cause.
