Leaflet MSSS 2025: rights, recourse and end of warning. Steps, deadlines and useful contacts
At the time of forced hospitalization, and after each examination report, the facility must provide this "Information Document on the Rights and Recourse of a Person in Custody", in accordance with the schedule to the Act (art. 16 and art. 10). This is a legal obligation and the key to exercising your rights and recourses.
Thisofficial government pamphlet offers two pages of important information on mental health custody: reasons and types (court order, preventive custody max. 72 h, provisional assessment max. 96 h), main rights (information, communication, refusal of care) and situations that put an end to custody, with contact details for support organizations, Services Québec and the TAQ.
