Droits et Recours en Santé Mentale Gaspésie–Les Îles officially joins the national strike movement Le communautaire à boutte!

Across Quebec, the independent community sector is speaking out.

Year after year, needs are skyrocketing while funding is not keeping pace. Teams are exhausted. Organizations are struggling to maintain the social safety net. And yet, we are an essential pillar of our communities.

The message is clear:
we are not asking for charity.
We demand recognition, adequate, stable, and recurring funding, and respect for the essential role that community organizations play in Quebec society.

If the community collapses, the whole of Quebec will lose momentum.

On strike from March 23 to April 2, 2026

As part of this national movement, Droits et Recours will participate in targeted strike and mobilization days between March 23 and April 2, 2026.

This is not a complete closure for two weeks.

On certain days, our services will be limited to allow our team to take part in local, regional, and national actions, including the mobilization in Quebec City on April 2. Details of our activities will be announced gradually.

We will publish two articles per week on our website and Facebook page to keep you informed of developments, our positions, and confirmed activities.

We will not let anyone down.

We want to make it clear:
the people we support will not be left behind.

We are doing this for them.

We will continue to provide responsible and humane support. We will also take the time to explain why we are taking this action, when we are doing it, and for what purpose.

This strike is also a momentfor public education.
A moment to talk about the social safety net.
A moment to talk about social justice.
A moment to talk about dignity.

Because the red fabric of the movement is the social fabric.
And we refuse to let this fabric be torn apart.

Members, partners, allies: we stand together

The community is at its wits' end.
But it is still standing.

We invite our members, partners, and the entire community to:

  • Follow our publications in the coming weeks
  • Stay up to date with announced actions
  • Participate in protests
  • Wear red fabric as a sign of solidarity
  • Join local chapters of the movement

The community is fed up!
Fighting for the survival of Quebec's social safety net.

Stay tuned. Mobilization is beginning.
